Bruce Nicol Business psychologist Managing Director, Potentialchange.com
Bruce has been a registered practicing psychologist for over 20 years, and has been practicing and developing the Self Awareness Triangle model for 15 years.
Bruce trained in Jungian dream work in the 1980s/90s and could see that this work was very useful in helping people to get in touch with their deeper emotional realities and to harness this depth for self-development. Bruce realised that he became aware that people were intuitively understanding their dreams very quickly. With even 'clinically depressed' clients they were able to get themselves up and running with life after around 6 sessions. The speed by which these occurred led Bruce to continue developing his model. The dream work, with his previous breathwork experience, led to a discovery that had universal application for growing potential. By being in touch with our deeper Self allowed people to use the dream process to reach into their own depth and grow that potential. They could now be 'in the flow' and operate with intuition and rationality, or right and left brain at full energy levels. This is a process that will enable creativity to be fully expressed from individuals and groups. In 2005 the finding of humangivens.com affirmed for Bruce that others were also exploring the real reason for the use of dreams in their 'expectation fulfillment theory'. Even on the opposite side of the world the same findings were occurring!
Bruce says: “I shaped this into a straight-forward and accessible way of guiding people in their ability to be fully in-touch with themselves.” He goes on to say that “This is an incredibly powerful process to help you develop your exponential potential.”
His previous work, in primary, secondary, and tertiary learning, and his experience as an educational psychologist, community psychologist and therapist, taught Bruce that focusing on potential is much more beneficial than focusing on pathology.
Bruce says that this realisation has been reinforced by his 15 years work as a change management consultant in the corporate world.
Bruce is also the director of a company called Corporate Coaching Ltd (1996), which was formed to consolidate his work in the coaching of senior managers in the public and private sector.
Bruce’s expertise as a business psychologist is available to high achievers in all fields of endeavour.
Testimonials
‘I strongly recommend that you make the time available to interact and learn from Bruce, despite this busy time in the trimester. This is the third year that we have involved Bruce in our personal / professional development series. I have never left a meeting or discussion with Bruce without a sense of greater possibility and optimism. His work in New Zealand is very much 'cutting edge'. His approach is well-grounded, unusual, as well as fun. He will test your basic assumptions and how you think about yourself, but it will be all toward a positive outcome. Take some time out "to sharpen the saw".’
Paul McDonald, Director, VUWs MBA, 2006
"You and your skills have made such a difference to my life this year and I shall always be very grateful. Thank you and best wishes." A. Successful businesswoman, Wellington, New Zealand, (2004)
"Bruce's style is very non- intrusive and I found myself recognising and moving on from issues and blockages very quickly. Bruce helped me feel empowered to manage the changes in my life in a positive way. I wouldn't have achieved such great outcomes without Bruce's support." KB. Senior business advisor, Wellington, New Zealand, (2005)
"Bruce was able to bring an objective eye to my husband's situation. This clarified issues for my husband (which we had talked over a million times but never seemed to be able to resolve). Bruce never told him what to do, but helped him identify stresses as well as priorities in his life. Having objective, outside guidance helped my husband to make some difficult decisions which resulted in a lifestyle change which has not only left my husband enjoying his life more, but has given us a richer family life as well. Thanks Bruce. Your advice was practical and low-key, and has had an amazingly positive impact on our family life." MW. Wife of high-achieving entrepreneur, Wellington(2004)
"I have utilized Bruce's skills and knowledge in several organizations now to help individuals manage through stressful changing times. Bruce's ability to help people become better able to manage uncertainty and ambiguity is second to none. A major part of being a senior manager is a need to learn to detach and view things objectively. Bruce is a great coach in helping to make that happen." Senior HR executive Wellington
