Disconnection
On awakening on Sunday morning I realised that what has been occurring in the international economic meltdown is the same in economics as it is in pretty much everything else that keeps people employed in the present systems. Basically the disconnect between the borrower and lender, the lack of human connection, is the same in pretty much most other ‘advice’ that is given in other areas of our society. In education those making the decisions have no actual recent practice of the classroom, no connection with the kids’ needs of today. Those in community work the same. In social work the same. In justice the same. The list goes on and on. As those who avoid the actual work obtain less and less practical understanding; they project themselves in their rarifed goobledy gook language. They talk their ‘rarified’ language amongst themselves to protect their supposed ‘cleverness’; actually stupidity. I have written years ago on this in an article called “ Public Policy Paralysis”. But realise it is only when it is really impacting those whose trinkets and status symbols begin to erode do we see the real ‘economy’. As such the bullshitters and dodgy deals by the ‘elect’, but not elected, are exposed. Can we do something so the taxpayer is not being held to ransom by these people? I include two recent articles from The Nation and the NY Times that show this in the USA. In NZ we do not have the intellectual capital to investigate as much as could be done to expose the same here. Niall Ferguson is saying that the human face is not there in those subprime arrangements between the lender and borrower. http://www.thenational.ae/article/20081121/REVIEW/464214494/1008
In the NY Times article it shows the lobbying power of those who use the media to create their own undisclosed wealth from promoting their own contract arrangements and believe there is not conflict of interest. In their delusion this may be so. http://www.thenational.ae/article/20081121/REVIEW/464214494/1008
The power of self deception is bigger when the stakes are bigger.
My previous blogs on Stevens and Winston Peters may suggest that with the new leadership in the USA there may be hope, but we cannot rely on saviours, we need to find our own authenticity as well.
At the risk of sounding too obvious what we need are authentic leaders with emotional maturity and awareness to support our own journey for our own authenticity. If not, then cherrio world.
